The mechanism
Cooling equipment runs continuously and produces sustained low-frequency sound. Low frequencies travel further and penetrate structures better than the high-frequency noise that ordinance limits were written around. A facility can pass an average-decibel test and still be audible in a bedroom a half mile away.
Moratoriums follow complaints faster than they follow studies.Several jurisdictions have paused new development on this basis alone.
Why it reaches your invoice
A blocked or delayed site is stranded capital, and stranded capital is recovered from the tenants who did get connected. Local opposition is a supply constraint wearing a different hat.
How we handle it
Our footprint is dense rather than sprawling, and sited to be a neighbor rather than an event. It is a smaller model on purpose — it is also the model that does not get voted out.
